ORIENTAL
WATERCOLOR AND PASTELS
Instructor - Caroline Klein
A brief history of Sumi-e (Oriental Watercolor),
will be given as we go along, as well as a description of the materials
to be used. After basic strokes and control of brush are mastered,
we'll tackle multiple tones on one brush, and then color. The
goal is to finish some pieces and learn to paste them down for framing.
For Pastels,
again, materials will be discussed, along with composition and application
of pastels.
Caroline Klein studied art in Nashville,
Tenn. and Munich, Germany, and Oriental Watercolor with Ann Kobayashi
and Lian Quan Zhen. She's also studied Pastels with Mary Sheean,
Theresa Pezzutti and Frank Zuccarelli, as well as workshops with
other nationally known artists. Her works have been exhibited
in New York as well as New Jersey, taking awards in both states. She
is a past President of the Guild of Creative Art.
