Making quality archival inkjet prints of your photographs, paintings, watercolors and other artwork can be challenging. In this full-day lecture workshop, photographer, consultant, and author Andrew Darlow will discuss and demonstrate how you can make better prints using almost any inkjet printer.
The following topics will be covered:
-How to choose the right printer for your needs (multiple models will be discussed, priced from about $100-$6,000).
-Tips for preparing your files (digital camera files or scans), including tips for choosing the right file sizes for printing, interpolating and image sharpening.
-Color management tips, how to use profiles, and a demonstration of custom profiling.
-Tips for getting better black and white prints.
-Suggested fine-art and proofing papers.
Each participant will receive a binder with course materials and a list of resources and materials, including recommended papers and canvases. During the workshop, Andrew will make an inkjet print on a pigment-based printer for each participant who provides a digital file. While printing, he will demonstrate a step-by-step printing workflow on a pigment-based inkjet printer using Macintosh- and Windows-based computers. Numerous printed samples, framed prints, and portfolio options will also be shown.
Requirements: Some experience using inkjet printers is recommended. A working knowledge of Photoshop, Photoshop Elements or Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is also recommended. Student will receive additional information after registration.
