Jennie A. Meares ~ jam Inspired Photography Matawan photographer Jennie A. Meares jumped into the Monmouth County, NJ art scene in 1998 where her “jam” signature has since become a familiar sight in countless group and solo exhibitions, as well as in private collections throughout the country. Now just over 10 years since her first life-changing, shutter-snapping experiences, her presence is still strong in galleries and at various community-based venues. EXHIBIT NEWS: After yet another busy year of exhibiting, which included qualifying for nearly a dozen juried shows, her 10-year retrospective solo exhibit “See the World Through My Eyes” at Starbucks last December and a 4-artist collaborative exhibit at Monmouth Beach Cultural Center in July, Jennie is now embarking on her 10th solo exhibit in October 2007, “Reflections in Time & Space” at Cask 591 Restaurant & Lounge in Long Branch, NJ. AWARDS: Jennie has won a number of awards over the years, including the People’s Choice Award at the Guild of Creative Art’s 2004 and 2006 Photography Showcases. Her signature piece “Floating Light” was featured on the 2003 Monmouth Festival of the Arts brochure cover marking her debut there and has since made its way to the Pen & Brush Club in New York City. It went on to win “Best in Show” from Juror Bonnie Stutski, Photography Editor of Smithsonian Magazine, at the Ocean County Artists’ Guild’s Juried Photography Show. OTHER VENUES: Jennie’s work hangs in private collections throughout the country, as well as in local venues, such as McLoone’s Riverside Dining in Sea Bright. Her work is showcased in NJ galleries and shops, such as The Frederick Gallery (Allenhurst), Windsor Gallery’s display at Christopher’s Café (Colts Neck), Squan Custom Frame Shop (Manasquan), UFrame It (Aberdeen), Sunset Florist (Wanamassa) and Faith’s Aura (Red Bank). ARTISTS’ VISION: Jennie’s passion for beauty is her inspiration, which is communicated in her work, be it of nature’s wonders or the brilliant color, composition or humor of a special face or place. Jam has become known for her fascination with reflections, through images that range from impressionistic to abstract, often challenging others’ perspectives and making them question which way is up. Her vision is to bring others to a place of peace and an awareness of our divine connection with everyone and everything around us. She likes to remind people that paradise is everywhere… Contact the artist for more information or to visit her home gallery ~ Thank you for supporting the arts!
