| Tony Ventura was born in Southampton LI, NY.
He began his studies at The Academy of Arts in Newark with Avery
Johnson, John Howell, Edmund Fitzgerald and others. He then went
to Pratt Institute and studied with Edger Whitney for 2 years,
then to The Art Students League studing with Robert Brackman and
Ivan Olinsky.
Two summers of painting in Mexico, the southwest
and northwest United States followed before setteling down in
Neptune, NJ. He married, has three children and opened his Studio-Gallery
in his home in 1960 where he continues to conduct classes in oils
and watercolor.
Some of his memberships include Hudson Valley Art
Association, The Salmagundi Club, Garden State Watercolor Society,
AAPL, Guild of Creative Art and North Shore Art Association. Tony
is also a signature member of Knickerbocker Artists and a Past-President
of the New Jersey Water Color Society. Included among his more
than 75 Awards are the Grumbacher Silver Medal, Windsor-Newton
Purchase Award, 2 Silver Medals of Honor, and 3 A.W.S. Traveling
Shows. Tony has painted throughout the U.S. and along our east
coast from Florida to Nova Scotia. Listings include Who's Who
in America Art and Who's Who in the East. He is published in Watercolor
95' & 98', Best of Watercolor 97' and International Artist 99'.
