About

History

The Guild of Creative Art began on this site, 620 Broad Street, Shrewsbury, New Jersey, in 1960. Yvonne Aubert was the founder, a tireless visionary who purchased a five-car carriage garage on the site, converting it to a studio and exhibition hall. After many improvements, the Guild of today is over twice the size of the original garage that presently serves as our instructor studio.

The Guild is the oldest and largest art community of its kind in the State. Its location on Broad Street one mile south of the center of Red Bank adds to its ever- increasing popularity as an active member of The New Jersey State Council of the Arts.

Structure

The Guild is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing excellence in visual arts through teaching, exhibitions and workshops. It is managed by a Board of Directors elected at an open annual meeting. The Board recommends policy and makes and changes the by-laws of the Guild.

The Guild fosters a cooperative structure that enables all members, General, Associate and Exhibiting, to become involved. This focus on an artistic environment brings our members a great deal of personal satisfaction. Volunteering within the Guild and to its supporting community is a far-reaching benefit to all members.

Finances

Generous donations by past members, workshop proceeds, the Guild's share of the sale price of works sold at its exhibits and our membership dues enable us to provide a wide variety of services to our members. Members volunteering for the many necessary positions also assists in keeping operating expenses to a minimum.
