Membership

The Guild has three membership categories, Exhibiting, Associate and General. Upon completion of an application form and payment of dues, a person can become a General Member. General Membership is available for an annual fee. All members receive a Monthly Bulletin and are encouraged to volunteer in several areas. They may also exhibit in the main gallery frequently.

Associate Membership may be granted when seven framed works in the same medium are presented to be juried and are accepted for this level of membership. This is a twice yearly event occurring once in the spring and once in the fall. An Associate Membership is a step towards Exhibiting Membership, with opportunities to exhibit their work.

Applicants for Exhibiting Membership also must submit seven framed works of the same medium to a jury for consideration. Once accepted, Exhibiting members are encouraged to take advantage of displaying one or two selections of their work each month in the Main Gallery as well as to rent the Gallery for larger exhibitions. The dates of these events are posted well in advance in the Monthly Bulletin.

There are twice yearly All Member Shows, where all three categories of members can exhibit their work in a public forum

Exhibiting members’ privileges include: being able to show two works of art no larger than 48” in either dimension, and two additional for a $5 fee per piece; two small treasures (pieces no larger than 14” in either dimension) every month; three matted pieces, and/or three archival prints for $3 per piece for three months. Exhibiting members may rent the gallery – or part of it (or share it with other Exhibiting members) – for one month. They may rent the “mini gallery” in the reception area for one month; show their work in our annual Exhibiting and Associate members’ exhibit; and bring their artwork to our off-site locations. They may display their work on our website, and in our Exhibiting members’ portfolio. They may also teach classes and workshops, be invited to be on the jury panel, and be referred for commissions. In return we ask that they volunteer their time.

Associate members’ privileges include: being able to exhibit in our annual Exhibiting and Associate members’ exhibit; two small treasures monthly; have a page on our website; and bring artwork to our offsite locations. If approved by the Board of Directors, they may also teach classes and workshops.  Associate members are not obligated to volunteer, but many of our most cherished volunteers are Associate members.
